What compels a person to commit arson?

I could see if someone was burning down their own building for insurance money or burning down a competitor’s building to put them out of commission at least for a little while. But what compels a person to burn down the home or business of someone who is a stranger to them when the perpetrator isn’t going to benefit in anyway from it?
